Your Comments: From Jim and Mary (4-11-2002) Just a comment regarding Stephen King. I have never been able to fight my way thru a King book. Just too boring. But I had no trouble, in fact, I really enjoyed your book. His, and most fiction, is like someone reading to you. Yours was like you were telling me a story. It seemed more personal, like the author was talking to me. Don't sell yourself short. The only difference between you and King is that he has a following. My guess is that his first attempt wasn't a big hit. Like Mary said, your book was a fun read. Jim * * * * * * From Nora and Mark (2-4-2002) Book: Hi Phil - Just got done reading your book and liked it alot. Laughed so much. I pictured you and your wife in place of Josh and Peggy. What a hoot!!!! You going to write another one? I've told so many friends about it. Hope they go out and buy it. Did it sell well? * * * * * * BOOK SEQUEL (From Dale 04-2002) This story's punch line makes for a good title for a sequel to Republican Bastards... A little boy wanted to know what it was like to have $100. His mother told him to pray to God for it. He prayed for two weeks but nothing turned up. Then he decided perhaps he should write God a letter requesting the $100. When the post office received the letter addressed to God, they opened it and decided to send it to the President. President Bush was so impressed, touched and amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy $5.00. He thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy. The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 and sat down to write a thank-you letter which read as follows: Dear God, thank you very much for sending me the money. I noticed that you had to send it through Washington. As usual, those thieving bastards deducted $95.... * * * * * * My .02 cents worth if you dare to put it on! Oct 8, 2001 From Laura via email: Another point regarding the media...if anything brings this country to it's knees, it will be the liberal press. In former President Kennedy's day, the media attempted to protect his reputation by trying to cover up his indiscretions (i.e. Marilyn Monroe). In former President Clinton's day, it was too difficult to cover-up, so the media opted to try and rationalize the issue. The opinion was that he had done nothing wrong, that his private life was none of our concern, his gross misuse of office, and his sexual exploits were nothing more than boyish pranks. Glossing over the fact that if a man will betray his own spouse, what will he do to his country. I find it particularly amusing that the press likens both of these administrations to Camelot. Did not Guinevere betray Arthur with Lancelot? Did not Camelot end badly when the truth was outed. Did not the fabric of Camelot become rent when common sense forced Lancelot to go on a quest for the Holy Grail. Camelot was a fantasy as were these administrations. They sounded good at night when the imagination was strong, but during the cold light of day, did not hold up. There is much talk of Mr. Clinton's legacy. We are living that legacy right this moment. With our young men and women being asked to risk life and limb in the cold, barren landscape of Afghanistan. With the World Trade Center in ruins and the Pentagon, our modern day fortress breached. In all fairness, the blame can not be laid at Mr. Clinton's feet alone. Congress has dropped the ball often enough. They have been too concerned with stealing money from the American people via the budget surplus and finding a way to bluff that the money was coming our of social security. If their was a silver lining in recent events, it must be that the country has become reunited. Shame that it took mass destruction and loss of life to bring out patriotism. Hope it lasts. Oh, and by the way, people may call the President by many things which are not his proper title but if I had to pick one improper one to use it would be GW 'cause ya know the W stands for WHOOPASS.' Put that in your cigar and smoke it Billy Boy. ******* September 8, 2001 (From Steve - address withheld) Phil, you are too modest in describing yourself as a "moderate democrat." It would be more accurate to describe you as "Rush of the Left". The only names I can think of further to the left are CNN, Washington Post or New York Times, or write columns like Paul Kreuger and Molly Irvins. But I can see your having fun, even if it's misguided. Comment: Thanks Steve. August 23, 2001 (From Mrs. L. R. - address withheld) This letter was sent email and responded to the TALK-RADIO IDIOT-OLOGY link listed on the Home Page. (The letter will be repeated on that link). "You couldn't be more correct in your statements, even if you had to be! Time-Life did a series of books, probably 20 years ago about Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, but I can't remember what it was called. One of the books goes into great detail about the Goebbles & Goehring propaganda machine. It is frightening how closely today's talk radio hate-mongers (Limbaugh especially) parallel them. It should be required reading for every junior and senior high-school student. However, the way things are going in the states, the corrupt administration will probably attempt to ban/burn them, so check out your local library ASAP. They may still have the series. The series is a must-read for anyone who truly cares about democracy in America. I'm convinced that Limbaugh is a reincarnation of either Goebbles or Goehring." ****** A visitor to the site sent this message. "The republican election commissioner in Buffalo impregnated his secretary, got divorced and married her. About 2 years later, he impregnated another board worker. Now highly paid board workers are forced to baby sit his illegitimate child. NYS Election Law prohibits commissioners from holding any other office. This guy is a town prosecutor and on the NYS Senate staff -- Republican Bastard is quite an understatement." (CF - Buffalo, NY Jul 7, 2001) |
